The Economic Development Board of Mauritius (EDB) led a delegation of four private sector operators to the 26th edition of the Africa Tech Festival, held from November 14-16, 2023, in Cape Town, South Africa.
The Africa Tech Festival has established itself as the premier pan-African platform for showcasing Africa’s burgeoning tech capabilities on the global stage. The continent, increasingly recognized as a promising market due to the strong digital push by African countries, also presents significant opportunities in connectivity, encompassing mobile internet, fiber optic networks, satellite technology, and subsea cables.
To portray Mauritius as an innovative and attractive destination for investment in the digital economy, the EDB delegation was allocated a prominent 36m2 stand at the event.
The festival provided an excellent platform for the Mauritian operators to showcase their diverse technological capabilities, generate new leads, forge business collaborations and partnerships, and foster collaborative networks with major corporations and other key stakeholders in the digital industry.
Over the three-day event, the Mauritius booth attracted a diverse audience, including exhibitors and visitors from various countries and industries. They were eager to learn more about the ease of setting up an ICT business in Mauritius and the extensive range of incentives available.
The EDB team also engaged in a networking session with key members of Wesgro, the official tourism, trade, and investment promotion agency for Cape Town and the Western Cape. During this session, a presentation was made highlighting the diverse investment opportunities in Mauritius. The session paved the way for future collaboration, with a forthcoming visit of a delegation comprising key business leaders from Wesgro scheduled for early 2024.
